Peter Rankin has designed three rugs for NODUS. All of them are inspired by themes related to space: for the Eco (Echo) rug, is formally the expansion of the sound in it, but not only…. For Moon, the sense of the space which surrounds our planet and the elements related to it.
For Milan (part of the Cities project), the space occupied by human beings, modified by them. Three rugs very different from each other, but all poetically attractive.
Born in 1962, Peter Rankin has been surely struck by the landing of the Apollo 11 on the satellite of the Earth. In fact, as well as the Moon rug for NODUS, he has designed the Saturn & Moon Radiators for Antrax, which won the Best Design 2006 award in Italy.
The Moon rug is hand-knotted on a loom in Nepal. It can be in 100% wool (the Tibetan highland one mixed with New Zealand one), or in 100% silk, or in 50% wool and 50% silk. The quality is 100 knots per inch, the pile height is 10 mm. It is available in the 300mm diameter size, but it can be made in any size and also in several colours. The delivery time from order is 3 months.
The Echo rug reminds of the expansion of sound but also of the concentric ripples in the water when you throw a stone in it, and most of all of the rings that internally mark the years in the trunk of a tree.
