London Design Festival - In partnership with Lema, ALPI presents the new Xilo 2.0 woods designed by Piero Lissoni.
ALPI takes part for the first time in the London Design Festival, a must-attend international design event. In partnership with Lema, one of the leading international players in the field of furnishings. The company presents the new Xilo 2.0 collection of veneers designed by Piero Lissoni, selected to enhance several compositions of the T030 modular system, also by100% Design, art director of both brands, making their debut at the Lema flagship store located in the iconic Danish House in the heart of Chelsea. The Xilo 2.0 woods add new options to the wide range of finishes available for the Lema Casa collections.
For ALPI, a leading company specialized in the production of composite wood surfaces, the collaboration with Lema represents an important achievement and a step in the new corporate strategy, aimed at a greater focus on the world of design, which began last year with the appointment of Piero Lissoni as art director. Providing a unique way of doing business, with an ongoing evolution thanks to the commitment and total dedication of the Alpi family, at the helm of the firm for three generations. Today, as a multinational with a clear drive towards the future, and an unrivaled technological reference point, ALPI has been the first company in the world to industrialize the production process of decorative wood composite surfaces. Its precise identity is shaped by the determination to stay one step ahead of the field, to take chances and to experiment. A passion for technology and a sense for the material are backed by professionalism and expertise, creative freedom and customization, environmental responsibility and absolute traceability of materials. ALPI’s knowlegde fine craftsmanship blends with advanced industrial processes.
The deeper value of the culture of manufacturing is precisely the factor that has led to the meeting of these two prestigious companies, ambassadors of Italian quality around the world. The common denominator is the creativity of Piero Lissoni who has created for the occasion a total design project to combine the expressive force of the two brands, developing the concept of an event based on the idea of a new design value, where the finished product is enhanced by the definition of the material itself, with its specific technical and aesthetic properties. In this case the material is wood, which ALPI reinterprets and updates through a totally unique process between industry and crafts, offering wood that can be customized and designed to meet the needs of industry and of the creativity of designers.
Today, in fact, in the world of furnishings as in all other areas of design, customization is also a matter of choice and quality of materials. Hence the title of the event in London: “Shape, form, wood finishes: a total design experience”.
Customization as a strategic driver: a true forte of ALPI, which stands out on the worldwide market as a reliable, punctual supplier, is the ability to offer – besides the products in a vast and constantly growing catalogue – custom creations at the service of the world of design, with the virtues of an industrial product but also a tailor-made character, thanks to in-depth knowledge of the material and manufacturing expertise developed over a century of activity.
Every new ALPI wood that is developed contributes to the formation of a true xylotheque. A fascinating archive in constant evolution, offering inspiration for new interpretations on the part of designers. Continuity of supply, also for the bespoke solutions, represents an important value, together with the absolute guaranteed origin of the materials.
The attitude of quality and customization shared by ALPI and Lema is also a key part of the philosophy of Cantieri Navali Sanlorenzo, the historic company founded in Viareggio in 1958. An icon of elegance in the world of yachts, which takes part in the London event with a talk by Sergio Buttiglieri, Interior Design Director of the brand, on the theme of customization.
For ALPI, the London event comes after the success of the FuoriSalone in Milan, where the firm presented the first concrete results of its new strategy, opening a new showroom in the Brera district, launching the new website and introducing many outstanding new products designed by Lissoni, the Campana brothers and Front. Proposals that differ in terms of stylistic approach, but share the same goals for reflection on the virtues of decoration.
To describe the infinite aesthetic and design potentialities, the creative process of the new ALPI woods focuses on the study of unprecedented decorative effects: on the one hand, shifting into the development of totally original textures, with precise references to the natural world, as in the case of the Campana brothers; on the other, giving rise to the collections by Front and Lissoni to fascinating contemporary experiments with the art of inlays. As a whole, these original ALPIlignum veneers represent the ideal expression of the deepest design culture of ALPI, its unrivaled ability to create exclusive wood patterns through a unique productive procedure, between industry and fine craftsmanship. The new lines join forces with the ALPI Wood collections, with over 90 catalogue offerings, all in stock and readily available.
In coordination with the London Design Festival, ALPI takes part in 100% Design, presenting the new Designer Collections and a selection of the most representative products from the Wood Collection. A constantly growing range, infinite in terms of chromatic variants, textures, grains and types of wood, to cover all kinds of surfaces. Responding to the needs of design and creativity, subdivided into eight stylistic moods by the art director Piero Lissoni, who has created an ideal path of discovery and knowledge amongst the vast range of ALPI woods.
